Second Quarter of the Season

By Marc A. Greenberg

Before the Draft tonight and our views of the Jets needs, it’s time to analyze the second quarter of the Jets 2010 season, which will be the indication of whether the Jets are for real or not. We call it “Go Time”

Go Time – Second Quarter (Games 5-8)

5. Vikings on Monday Night.  Welcome back Brett Favre.  If you know one thing about Favre it is that he loves Monday Night. All his rowdy friends are there, Faith Hill is singing, we’ll see a few Wrangler commercials, etc.

This will be a great test for the Jets. Wanting to avoid any letdowns from their division heavy first quarter of the season, the Jets face a Vikings team that has super bowl dreams.  Coming off a game against the Lions and then the Bye week, the Vikings will be well rested. Tough game here. Thankfully, it’s a Home game, and that’s where the Jets get the edge… slightly.

6. At Denver Broncos.  If you take a look at the Broncos previous 3 games before this one (Indy, at Tenn, at Baltimore), you’ll know that this is a must win for them.

Week 7 – BYE

7. Home to Packers. The Packers have never won a road game against the Jets and it won’t begin here. Giving Rex Ryan a week off to formulate a gameplan will not be good news for QB Aaron Rodgers.

8. At Lions.  For some reason, the Lions have a harder schedule (13th hardest) than the Jets (18), and it shows. Bears, Eagles, Vikings, Packers, Rams, Giants, Redskins, and then Gang Green.  Wow.  Are you kidding me?

Good luck Matthew Stafford.

We’ve got another 3-1 here (although the Vikings game is a toss up), giving the Jets a 6-2 record after 8.
