Your hall of fame class, revealed right here:

Larry Allen

Cris Carter

Curley Culp

Jonathan Ogden

Bill Parcells

Dave Robinson

Warren Sapp

Bill Parcells was a no-brainer, as we have said, a guy that should have been in the Hall of Fame last year. Jonathan Ogden is a great choice, the first pick of the Ravens, with 11 Pro Bowls to his credit.

Warren Sapp is a bit of a surprise, my personal opinion is that Michael Strahan is more deserving than Sapp, but both are Hall of Fame quality. Larry Allen was a fabulous tackle for many, many years.

Cris Carter has been waiting for quite some time. To me, he has been on the edge, a borderline candidate, congratulations to him for finally making the cut.

Curley Culp and Dave Robinson were the two senior candidates.

Congratulations to the class of 2013.

In our continuing Thursday night series profiling the Jets Ring of Honor members, we take a look at a personal favorite of mine, Hall of Fame Inductee Curtis Martin.

After being compared to Tony Dorsett while at the University of Pittsburgh, Curtis Martin was drafted in the 3rd round by our hated rival, the New England Patriots, in 1995 (74th pick overall)

After three strong seasons in New England with Bill Parcells, Curtis signed an offer sheet with the Jets after the 1997 season, which the Patriots refused to match, so Martin became a Jet. In 1998, he gave the running game legitimacy and credibility, as he reunited with his mentor, Bill Parcells. He and the Jets went to the AFC championship game, and Curtis Martin rushed for 1,287 yards and 8 TDs.

In his first seven years as a member of the New York Jets, Curtis Martin only missed one game, and was elected to the Pro Bowl 3 times.

In 2004, Martin became the oldest player(31 years old) to earn a rushing title, rushing for 1,697 yards, beating out Shaun Alexander by one yard.

Curtis Martin rushed for over 1,000 yards in his first 10 seasons in the league, a feat matched only by the great Barry Sanders. He is one of only 16 players with 100 or more TDs. He is the fourth leading rusher in the history of the sport, with 14,101 yards rushing.

This is (another) great time of year for speculation when it comes to the New York Jets. Yes we had it leading up to the free agent signing period. Who would Jets sign? Who would be traded? Who would Jets trade for? Next we had the speculators dream, the 2008 NFL Draft. Now in this down period after Organized Team Activities have dried up why not fan the flames of speculation with this tidbit: The Jets need to trade for Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin. The disgruntled young star is unhappy with the Cards (I’ll pause so you can recover from the shock of that statement…Ok let’s get back) and his contract situation. Talks are going nowhere and now it looks like Boldin will not report to training camp. The Jets who are desperate for help at wideout and can seriously use an offenisve upgrade like Boldin should pick up the phone and see what it would take. Bryan Thomas anyone? Ok…maybe it would take more than Thomas but it doesn’t hurt to ask. No guts no glory.

The NFL teams are all doing something very cool and very smart by making their rookies visit Canton, Ohio to see someplace every pro football player dreams of being a permanent resident of: the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Dustin Keller enjoyed his visit and I still say the Jets shiny new tight end has the speed to run by linebackers and the size to run through or drag defensive backs all in a frame that houses hands as soft as goose down. If you play fantasy football don’t sleep on Keller.

A guy who I have always loved and look to continue to take strides to being a fixture in Jets defense is safety Eric Smith and the DB has a fan in Eric Mangini. Another player Jets fans thought might wind up in the green and white – Rosevelt Colvin – has a new home and it ain’t with us. Colvin could have helped the pass rush and may have been an intrguing player to move inside at linebacker or take snaps away from Bryan Thomas if he struggled but it was not to be.
