The last few years have been up and down for Mike Tannenbaum. For all the good picks in the draft he has made, there have been a fair number of busts as well. A guy named Gholston comes to mind, for example.

If you aren’t convinced, Mike also drafted Vladimir Ducasse recently.

The trade for Tim Tebow brought the offseason for the Jets to a head. If there has ever been a polarizing issue to hit the Gang Green, this is it. As such, a lot of people believe that this could potentially be Mike Tannenbaum’s final year with the Jets, if things don’t go well

I submit that this is true, but not because of Tim Tebow. There is another guy that could determine Mike’s fate, all by himself. Turn the page to find out who.

Could Rex Ryan be on the hot seat in 2012? The senior blogger for CBS Sports thinks so. He ranked the top 10 hot seats in the NFL, and coach Ryan was number 2. Here is his justificiation

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. Despite making two consecutive AFC Championship Games to start his career with the Jets, Ryan’s team stumbled badly in 2011. Or, at least, appeared to stumble badly — they weren’t that far away from making the playoffs. But the combination of brash guarantees and a disastrous locker room made last year look much worse than it might normally have appeared. Ryan brought in Tony Sparano to fix the offense, traded for Tim Tebow and took some craps-table-esque early draft picks in Quinton Coples and Stephen Hill. If the Jets flounder in 2012, Ryan’s rear might be asked to cash a big check.

See his full post by clicking here:

With all due respect to the blogger at CBS, can’t say that I agree.

Did the Jets have a bad year in 2011? Absolutely. Did Rex lose the pulse of the locker room? Yes. But that doesn’t put him on almost the hottest seat in the league.
