<p>JETSerious will bring you inside the defensive film room and dissect plays from the beginning to end…. each and every week.  We’ll look at what the Jets defense did right and wrong for each play.</p>
<p>The Jets faced the Seahawks in Seattle on Sunday, and had a good defensive outing. The offense, however, self-destructed and left the D out to dry.</p>
<p>So, what went right? What went wrong? JETSerious will analyze the tape, and show you what’s happening.</p>
<p>Enjoy!</p>
</div>
<div></div>
<div>This first play occurs in the 1st quarter. The Jets are lined up with 3 down lineman and 1 high safety. LaRon Landry is lined up in the box, and will run with the TE in motion (85).</div>
<div></div>
<div><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/a1.png"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-11617" title="a1" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/a1.png" alt="" width="501" height="226" /></a></div>
<div></div>
<div>You&#8217;ll notice that Landry is still lined up across the man, once he stalls in motion.</div>
<div></div>
<div><img class="aligncenter wp-image-11619" title="b" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/b.png" alt="" width="482" height="202" /></div>
<div></div>
<div>At the point of the snap, Russell Wilson notices a cover 3 look from the Jets.</div>
<div></div>
<div><img class="aligncenter wp-image-11618" title="a2" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/a2.png" alt="" width="478" height="183" /></div>
<div></div>
<div>Once Wilson drops back in the picture below, set your focus on the high safety. Yeremiah Bell&#8217;s hips are open, favoring Kyle Wilson and his side of the field.</div>
<div></div>
<div><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/c.png"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-11620" title="c" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/c.png" alt="" width="484" height="195" /></a></div>
<div></div>
<div>Next, you&#8217;ll see that Yeremiah Bell become flat footed. Russell Wilson will read his progressions and have a clean pocket to work with.</div>
<div></div>
<div><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/e.png"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-11621" title="e" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/e.png" alt="" width="472" height="251" /></a></div>
<div></div>
<div>The Jets are not able to generate any sort of pass rush. Plus, Yeremiah Bell opens his hips to the middle of the field.</div>
<div></div>
<div><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/f.png"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-11622" title="f" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/f.png" alt="" width="451" height="302" /></a></div>
<div></div>
<div>With a very clean pocket, Russell Wilson notices that Kyle Wilson is by himself. Yeremiah Bell has to turn his hips (again) to help Wilson. It&#8217;s too late.</div>
<div></div>
<div>If you look at the yellow circle, you&#8217;ll notice that Russell Wilson&#8217;s throwing motion is abnormally low. He dropped the ball before he starts his release.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Why does this matter?</div>
<div></div>
<div>If the Jets were able to generate any pressure, they could&#8217;ve knocked the ball out. The fact that Calvin Pace couldn&#8217;t beat his guy 1-on-1 around the outside, just shows that Pace hasn&#8217;t been effective. For what he&#8217;s paid&#8230;. it sucks.</div>
<div></div>
<div><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/h.png"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-11623" title="h" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/h.png" alt="" width="437" height="288" /></a></div>
<div></div>
<div>The next shot is a great catch by Golden Tate. He dominated Wilson early and often. Wilson should&#8217;ve had help over the top from Bell, but we just saw how that went. Since Revis&#8217; injury, the Jets have been forced to play more zone. That&#8217;s not what Bell was brought here to do. He can play some zone, but to rely on him as a deep safety is a mistake. It doesn&#8217;t exactly fit his skill-set.</div>
<div></div>
<p><img class="wp-image-11624 alignleft" title="k" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/k.png" alt="" width="358" height="292" /></p>
<div>Golden Tate killed us all day.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Whether it was a TD catch, a reverse, or a pass&#8230; he took the game over. With the Jets shut out on offense (the 1 TD came from the defense), the Jets simply could not contain Tate and his versatility. He looked like Randle-el of the Steelers in the Super Bowl.</div>
<div></div>
<div>It&#8217;s frustrating to see, because I remember thinking that Tate would be a good fit for the Jets coming out of college&#8230; just like Percy Harvin. The Jets got neither, and would LOVE to have that type of talent to help out on offense.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Either way, Tate got the best of Wilson.</div>
<div></div>
<div></div>
<div>Let&#8217;s look at the view from above&#8230;</div>
<div></div>
<div>First, let&#8217;s get this out of the way&#8230; Cromatie has his side locked down. So we checked off &#8220;AlCROtraz&#8221;.</div>
<div>Second, look at the black circle. This is Russell Wilson as he&#8217;s releasing the pass. Look at his pocket&#8230; clean as a whistle.</div>
<div>Third, focus on the black box. This is 10-15 yard window that Wilson could throw on a comeback or hook route. We all know that Wilson wouldn&#8217;t be able to jump any of those routes.</div>
<div>Lastly, look at the red circle: Yeremiah Bell. I mentioned this before, that he is way too far and way too late to make a play. So what happens?</div>
<div></div>
<div>Russell Wilson chucks one up. It&#8217;s actually a great throw, and Tate makes the long TD look easy.</div>
<div></div>
<div><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/m.png"><img class="aligncenter wp-image-11625" title="m" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/m.png" alt="" width="540" height="336" /></a></div>
<div></div>
<div>I know, I know. It&#8217;s frustrating.</div>
<div></div>
<div>But with the bad out of the way, let&#8217;s look at a positive defensive play.</div>
<div></div>

<p>It&#8217;s Wednesday, and now that the bye has passed, we are back with our trips inside the film room. JETSerious will break down plays on the defensive side of the ball this afternoon. This morning, and every Wednesday post game, I break down some offensive game film. As anyone knows that watched the game on Sunday, the offensive game film was just that, offensive. There weren&#8217;t a lot of positives to take away from this one, so let&#8217;s cut to the chase. We are going to take a look at a major momentum changing play, the infamous Mark Sanchez red zone interception. This was brutal, and was case and point of what drives Jets fans nuts about Mark Sanchez. Here&#8217;s the formation:</p>
<p><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/sanchez-pick-one11132012_2150.png"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11601" title="sanchez pick one11132012_2150" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/sanchez-pick-one11132012_2150-300x209.png" alt="" width="300" height="209" /></a></p>
<p>The Jets are lined up in a shotgun formation, with three receivers to the right. Dustin Keller is in the middle of the group to the right, indicated by the green circle. The key defender on the play is Richard Sherman, indicated by the blue circle. Keller is going to run a route following the green light, making his move forward, before breaking to the corner, towards the front pylon of the end zone. Let&#8217;s roll it forward.</p>
<p><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/sanchez-pick-two11132012_2157.png"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11602" title="sanchez pick two11132012_2157" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/sanchez-pick-two11132012_2157-300x238.png" alt="" width="300" height="238" /></a></p>
<p>This is where everybody goes nuts. Do you see where Mark is looking? Right at where Dustin Keller is headed. The green arrow is following Sanchez&#8217;s line of sight, right down the field to the right corner. Notice that Sherman, as indicated by the blue line, is staring right into Sanchez&#8217;s eyes. Keller is getting ready to make his break toward the corner, and Mark is staring him down all the way. There really is no opening for Keller here, as Sherman is sitting in his zone just waiting to break on the ball. What does Mark do?</p>
<p><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/sanchez-pick-three11132012_2206.png"><img class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11603" title="sanchez pick three11132012_2206" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/sanchez-pick-three11132012_2206-300x221.png" alt="" width="300" height="221" /></a></p>
<p>He pumps his own receiver? Seriously Mark? You make it hard to defend you sometimes, that&#8217;s for sure. Anyway, Sanchez pumps once, and as you can see Sherman isn&#8217;t fooled. The broken line is his line of sight, still right at Mark. Sherman is already making his move to follow Keller, as indicated by the blue line.  Let&#8217;s take this even further forward.</p>
<p><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/sanchez-pick-four11132012_2212.png"><img src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/sanchez-pick-four11132012_2212-300x250.png" alt="" title="sanchez pick four11132012_2212" width="300" height="250" class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11604" /></a></p>
<p>Not only does Mark miss a wide open Stephen Hill, circled in red, but in his infinite wisdom, Mark pumps his own guy again! Why? You can tell by looking at Sherman, again in blue, that he isn&#8217;t buying. He has forgotten all about the receiver making the move towards the post, and has all his concentration on Sanchez, and his favorite target, Dustin Keller. Mark has to do something besides a pump fake to get himself a window, say, look the defender off maybe? If he doesn&#8217;t like what he sees, he needs to throw it away or scramble and save the three points. He cannot do what happens next.</p>
<p><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/sanchez-pick-five11132012_2217.png"><img src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/sanchez-pick-five11132012_2217-300x242.png" alt="" title="sanchez pick five11132012_2217" width="300" height="242" class="aligncenter size-medium wp-image-11605" /></a></p>
<p>But he does it anyway. He throws it to Dustin Keller, all the while Richard Sherman is staring him down the whole time. There is ample time for Sherman to close on Dustin, and we all saw what happened so I am not going to make you see it again. Sherman makes the easy pick, and Sanchez again turns the ball over in the red zone. Mark cannot do this, but he continues to do it. That is why fans go crazy watching this guy play.</p>
<p>There wasn&#8217;t much positive in this game, but I found a small positive. Turn the page and I will break it down.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s Monday afternoon, so time for the weekly report card. Let&#8217;s just say that one side of the football is going to need summer school after these grade. OK, one guy especially. Let&#8217;s just get to it:</p>
<p><strong>QUARTERBACK:F</strong></p>
<p>Anyone who reads this blog knows how I feel about this quarterback, but I cannot find any redeeming qualities in the performance of Mark Sanchez yesterday, as I said earlier in the Monday Morning Quarterback. The stats are one thing: 9-22 124 yards, 1 INT, 0 TDs. But it goes even further, when you have this game the &#8220;eye&#8221; test. By that I mean just look at what you see. Mark is still making rookie mistakes far too often. The interception in the red zone was inexcusable. And the fumble? That was all too familiar, as well as being inexcusable. Just a terrible day for the Jets quarterback.</p>
<p><strong>RUNNING BACKS:C+</strong></p>
<p>Shonn Greene was the only running back that made an impact, with 15 carries for 58 yards. It wasn&#8217;t a great performance, but it wasn&#8217;t bad. 3.8 yards per carry is not an awful day, but the Jets did have to get away from the running attack as they fell behind. It was an OK day on the ground, from when it was used, so henceforth, the C+.</p>
<div id="attachment_11531" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 209px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/6740994.jpg"><img src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/30/files/2012/11/6740994-199x300.jpg" alt="" title="NFL: New York Jets at Seattle Seahawks" width="199" height="300" class="size-medium wp-image-11531" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Nov 11, 2012; Seattle, WA, USA; Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman (25) jumps up and intercepts the pass intended for New York Jets tight end Dustin Keller (81) during the 1st half at CenturyLink Field. Mandatory Credit: Steven Bisig-US PRESSWIRE</p></div>
<p><strong>WIDE RECEIVERS AND TIGHT ENDS:C+</strong></p>
<p>You know who brought this grade down a lot? A favorite player of mine, Dustin Keller. Yes, he did have 3 catches for 47 yards. He had some untimely penalties though, especially deep in the red zone. The false start on third and goal from the one was a KILLER. Jeremy Kerley had a decent game, with 5 catches for 57 yards. Nobody else had more than one catch, but the receivers didn&#8217;t lose this one. It again, was an average day, so they earn a C+.</p>
<p><strong>OFFENSIVE LINE:B-</strong></p>
<p>To their credit, the offensive line stepped up and played better yesterday. They did have their penalties, I am not going to say that they didn&#8217;t. But, they did open the holes for the running game, averaging 3.8 yards per carry. They gave up 3 sacks as well, but for a good part of the game, kept Mark Sanchez on his feet. They were definitely not the reason that the Jets lost this game, but I cannot give out any A&#8217;s after a performance like that.</p>
<p>Turn the page for defense and special teams grades.</p>
