DJ Young has been signed to likely compete for a spot in training camp.

The Jets have made a move, which will likely turn into the final move they make without a general manager in place.

The Jets have signed OT DJ Young. He previously spent the duration of the 2011 season on the practice squad of the Arizona Cardinals. He competed for a spot to replace Levi Brown during the 2012 preseason, but had a rough game against the Titans. Young was released by the team during the final round of preseason cuts.

Young will likely have a chance to make this team, as the team likely will be replacing one starter, maybe two, as Brandon Moore, along with the tandem of Matt Slauson and Vladimir Ducasse could be released by the new general manager.

DJ has experience playing multiple spots along the offensive line, so he could be a versatile addition to the squad. He does have a raw skill set, however, so it remains to be seen if Gugs can refine his abilities well enough to earn him a spot on the team. In any event, DJ Young likely is the answer to the trivia question about who was the last player the Jets made a move on without Tannenbaum’s replacement. Not that anyone will be asking that question. Just a thought.
