It’s Thursday night, so it is time for another “Throwback Thursday”. For this week’s edition, we go back five years for a fun highlight from the 2008 season.

Many fans, myself included, are annoyed at the guy to the left for using the team to get back at Green Bay. You could tell that he never really belonged, and just wanted to get to Minnesota so he could exact revenge against the Packers.

It wasn’t all bad, though. Before he played through injury, there were some good moments. When the Jets were 8-4 that year, Cris Collinsworth called the Jets the best team in the AFC. We know what happened after that, but that is not the point tonight.

Tonight, we look at one of the good moments from th 2008 season.

We go back to week 8, when the Jets hosted the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Jets came into this one with a 3-3 record, off of an overtime loss to the Oakland Raiders. Even with the loss, the Jets were playing better, winning 2 out of the last 3.

However, the Jets were down late in this one. In the fourth quarter, Brandon Flowers picked off a Brett Favre pass at took it back 91 yards to the house to give the Chiefs a 24-21 head.

But the Jets weren’t finished. Brett Favre led the Jets on a last minute drive that ended with this:

The Jets took off from here, winning their next four to run their record to 8-3 before the bottom fell out, costing Eric Mangini his job.

But there you have it, a “Throwback Thursday”. Enjoy your night.

Kris Jenkins has been an outspoken guy since he joined the media after his retirement. He has directed a lot of his outspokenness towards one of his former teams, the New York Jets. Yesterday, he was specifically talking about the fans of NY. Hearing the quote, you have to wonder a bit, what Kris Jenkins is talking about.

“I think if the Jets fans knew how much power they had, they might fall back a little bit and not make as much noise,” Jenkins said. “Wherever the mob goes, the organization is going to go.”

Interesting, but an odd point considering nobody wanted Tim Tebow to come here. Does anyone remember headlines saying that the Jets need Tim Tebow? I don’t. Jenkins went on:

“The organization wants to sell tickets. They want to make money, sell merchandise and all of that. If the fans feel a certain way, the organization is going to be accommodating to them to a certain degree,” Jenkins said. “That’s going to affect how things are working in-house. That’s going to affect decisions that are made.”

I go back to this old movie title, because I wanted to talk about Mr. T, the guy we know as Mike Tannenbaum. It has been a life with Mikey, hasn’t it? It certainly feels like it. He has been the general manager since 2006, but it feels like it has been so much longer.

He gets some heat, and it is warranted. He did draft Vernon Gholston, and Vladimir Ducasse as well. He left the Jets with no depth at the offensive line last season, which left them in a bad position when Nick Mangold went down. I personally don’t think he gets enough heat for 2011, he has been given a bit of a pass, while guys like Schottenheimer and Sanchez get the blame.

In the end though, we have put our trust in Mike Tannenbaum for a lot of years. Most of them have been good.
