Enjoy your morning cup of coffee with the latest news and updates on the New York Jets. In yet another mock draft, this time around, a top source has Gang Green taking a tight end in Round 1.

Before you know it, the 2017 NFL Draft will be here. Yeah, I know we have a while to wait before the New York Jets are on the clock but at least it’s Thursday and just one more day until the weekend. Just means this year’s draft is another weekend closer.

Below you’ll find the latest news and updates on the Jets from top sources on the internet. It looks like compared to yesterday’s Coffee with the Jets, this time around, a new mock draft has the Jets finally address their issues at tight end.

In an article written by Rich Cimini for ESPN, he breaks down Mel Kiper Jr. predicting the Jets drafting O.J. Howard out of Alabama. Cimini believes that the Jets would be reaching to take a tight end with the No. 6 overall pick when they can have a top player ready to address other serious issues on the team. Just like Cimini said, the Jets have dire needs at quarterback, offensive line, and on their defensive secondary. A tight end is the least of their problems compared to other more critical areas of need.

More from The Jet Press

In an article written by Connor Hughes for NJ.com, he wrote a piece on how defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson posted on Instagram that reports of him being out of shape aren’t true. Again, the offseason is a long and usually boring one which makes for “anonymous sources” to inspire stories that aren’t always true. Looking at Wilkerson’s Instagram page, he posted recent pictures that prove he’s still in shape and simply enjoying his time away from the gridiron.

In an article written by Brad Gagnon for the Bleacher Report, he did a fantastic piece ranking every team in each division based on their early free agency moves. Needless to say, the Jets ranked dead last in the AFC East due to the fact that they’re rebuilding and won’t stand a chance against their division rivals. It’s unfortunate but at the end of the day, facts are facts. The Jets will be lucky to win five or more games in 2017.

Finally, in an article written by Stephen Smith for NFL Spin Zone, he gives two tight ends the Jets should consider drafting in Round 2 of this year’s draft. Yeah, the Jets need a tight end and while they shouldn’t use their No. 6 overall pick on one, taking one in the second round makes a lot of sense. New offensive coordinator John Morton will use the position more than Chan Gailey and well, they need a new young talented tight end that is ready to make some serious noise. Some of the ones Smith mentions could very well be still available when the Jets are on the clock in the second round.
