Heading into Week 14 Fantasy Football, running back Matt Forte is a must-sit due to a new quarterback under center.

Just in case fantasy football owners didn’t know, quarterback Bryce Petty is officially the new starter for the New York Jets. He replaces the abysmal Ryan Fitzpatrick and will start every game from here on out until the end of the regular season.

Must Read: Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 14: QB Bryce Petty

It’s no secret that the overall offense of the Jets has left much to the imagination. They can’t score touchdowns, can’t get easy first downs, and really have been dreadful to watch. One would think that last week, in their 41-10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, the Jets would have thought about running the football with Matt Forte.

Nope, not these Jets since well, that would make too much sense. Last week, Forte totaled just nine rushes for 25 yards and didn’t even score a single touchdown. Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey isn’t getting the job done and it would be shocking to see him return to the Jets after this season is finally over.

Even though the Jets hit the road to face the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14, don’t expect them to actually commit to running the football even though it might do the trick to leave this game victorious. Since they want to get a good look at Petty to see if he has what it takes to be a future franchise quarterback, expect the Jets to air it out this weekend.

More from The Jet Press

Fantasy football owners should sit Forte this week since it’s not worth wasting a starting spot on him since the Jets aren’t utilizing him correctly. It’s sad since he has the skill-set to really put this offense on his back and deliver but again, the Jets are dysfunctional and probably can’t wait for this season to be over just like the rest of us.

It isn’t a guarantee that they can even beat the 49ers but the Jets will more than likely focus on their passing game. Don’t risk starting Forte and stick to your tried and true fantasy options at running back and if he’s your only option, find anyone else on the waiver wire.
