The New York Jets are coming off of a terrible loss against the Kansas City Chiefs as they were exposed in all phases of the game. This week, the Jets will face off against the Seattle Seahawks in a crucial game that is critical to their playoff hopes.

Coming into the 2016-2017 NFL season, there were high expectations for the New York Jets as they were expected to be in playoff contention. Heading into Week 4, the Jets find themselves at 1-2 being in need of a big win on Sunday.

Later on today, the Jets will take on an extremely talented Seattle Seahawks team. Seattle ranks first in total defense, and their offense is filled with plenty of playmakers such as quarterback Russell Wilson, running back Christine Michael, and wide receiver Doug Baldwin. It will certainly be a great challenge for the Jets.

The main reason why this game is a total must-win for the Jets is because of the current standings in the AFC. The Jets trail the New England Patriots by two games in the AFC East, and they have already lost some crucial games in the conference’s wild-card race against Cincinnati and Kansas City.

As far as staying in the hunt for the AFC East goes, the Jets absolutely cannot afford to lose their game against Seattle. The Patriots have a good chance of winning against Buffalo in their Week 3 matchup, and a win from them combined with a Jets loss would doom Gang Green.

Being down three games in the division with quarterback Tom Brady making his return would be a really tough predicament. In the AFC, the playing field is as leveled as it has ever been.

There are plenty of really good teams fighting for extra playoff spots including the Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, etc.

Due to the fact that the competition is so tight within the conference, the Jets cannot afford to fall behind in the standings even more so than they already have.

With the AFC standing being considered, the Jets must be sure to get a win on Sunday, if they plan on being playoff contenders for the duration of the season.
