Following the first win of the season for the New York Jets, there are lots to be thankful for and concerned about. Wide receiver Brandon Marshall is both of those. Heading into the Jets vs Chiefs game, Marshall will more than likely get a limited amount of reps.

Marshall’s brutal tackle was scary and seemed season threatening. Turns out to be a minor MCL sprain, but there’s caution in the wind for quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick‘s No. 1 target.

On the thankful side, the Jets’ offense is soaring. Fitzpatrick torched the Buffalo Bills for 374 yards and wide receiver Quincy Enunwa is becoming a legitimate threat.

As for concerns, cornerback Darrelle Revis is still getting burned. We might see that fixed soon, we might not. Let’s hope so, because the New England Patriots are 3-0 without quarterback Tom Brady.

Here’s what players and coaches are saying heading into Week 3 against the Chiefs.

The Jets’ premier wide receiver might not be ready to suit up for Week 3, although he remains confident as per Zach Braziller of the New York Post. Marshall’s knee buckled awkwardly during a tackle in Week 2 against the Bills.

Reaction to the tackle and the image of the knee was of immediate concern. When Marshall went down writhing, many thought his season was over right there, including the six-time Pro Bowler.

Marshall would return later and end the game with 100 yards receiving. Despite the return, Marshall did sustain a sprain to his MCL.

The MCL sprain doesn’t seem to be serious at the moment, but it is clear Marshall is not 100 percent. He remains questionable heading into today’s game.

Next: No, definitely not - Darelle Revis

“No, definitely not.” – Darelle Revis

Revis isn’t feeling the heat as per Ethan Greenberg of NewYorkJets.com, following two weeks of criticism for being on the wrong end of big plays. He’s fine being spotlighted in a secondary in need of some improvement.

The Jets’ secondary have given up four plays for over 50 yards in the first two weeks of the season. Revis was the closest defender on two of those plays.

In Week 1, A.J. Green received a bomb of a touchdown in which Revis received no help up the middle from the safety. In Week 2 Marquise Goodwin simply burned Revis down the sideline for an 84-yard touchdown.

Revis is confident the secondary will improve over the length of the season. They’ll have another test in Jeremy Maclin and the Chiefs.

Next: Thirty is the new 25 - Todd Bowles

“Thirty is the new 25” – Todd Bowles

Running back Matt Forte is lighting it the running game for the Jets. Head coach Todd Bowles is impressed with Forte’s ability, even at 30 as per CBS Sports.

In Week 2, Forte burned the Bills for 100 yards on 30 carries and three touchdowns. He’s proving he can carry a heavy load early on this season.

At 30, running backs typically start to see a decline in performance. Forte is bucking the trend so far, carrying a significant portion of the running game.

The Jets should exercise caution, even if Forte remains healthy. He did miss most of the preseason and he’s still only getting older.

Next: I don't want status quo - Chan Gailey

“I don’t want status quo” – Chan Gailey

Excuse us for one second, but this sure as heck isn’t status quo for a Jets’ quarterback, Mr. Gailey. However, carry on, we feel you.

The Jets second-year offensive coordinator thinks this team is better at this point than last season, as per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. He wants to continue that way in all honesty. Part of the plan is to continue tweaking a rising offense.

Fitzpatrick thrived in Week 2 throwing for almost 400 yards. He’s finding weapon after weapon in the open field, including the emerging Enunwa.

I think we can all agree, the status quo is changing on offense for Gang Green. Forte’s running and Enunwa’s emergence bode well for the Jets.

“It was disgusting” – Brandon Marshall

The New England Patriots routed the Houston Texans 27-0 to open Week 3 on Thursday Night Football. This was with their third-string quarterback. Brandon Marshall couldn’t watch, as per Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post.

Even without Brady for the first four weeks of the season, the Patriots are rolling and the Jets are chasing, as usual. New England is 3-0, and has a very good chance at 4-0 against the Bills. And Brady’s first opponent when he returns? The Cleveland Browns.

The Patriots’ defense is emerging as champion caliber, a distinction the Jets would like to claim for themselves. Quarterback play seems to not even matter to New England, as long as someone, anyone is under center.

In order to stay in contention, the Jets need big win in the next four weeks against the Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Arizona Cardinals. It’s now or never for this team to prove it can hang with the boys up in Foxborough.
