In the Jets vs Dolphins game, Gang Green’s big 27-14 win over the Dolphins set some great milestones and proved that they’re back on track.

They always say a win is a win and it’s always a great thing to earn heading into a bye week. Such is life for the Jets who made the big road trip to London to face the Dolphins and absolutely took care of business.

The Jets completely outplayed the Dolphins and proved that they are indeed contenders in the AFC East. Of course to be the best, you have to beat the best and until they face the New England Patriots, we all won’t really know what this team is capable of accomplishing this season. Regardless, they got a solid win and earned some great milestones from this game.

Here are the top 5 fun facts from the Jets vs Dolphins game.

Next: 5. He's back and ready for war

5. Chris Ivory

Running back Chris Ivory didn’t get to play at all in Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles even though he was suited up and anxious to play but the Jets decided to let him rest from his groin injury. This time around though, Ivory was given the green light to unleash war against a Dolphins’ defense that simply had no answers for him.

Ivory totaled a career-high 166 rushing yards with a touchdown on 29 carries. He put on an absolute clinic against the Dolphins as he literally went through anything and everything coming his way. Whenever Ivory gets at least 100+ rushing yards, the Jets tend to win football games as they are 5-1 every single time he hits the century mark on the ground.

4. Brandon Marshall

Wide receiver Brandon Marshall has absolutely been quite the off-season pickup for the Jets. Not only did he open up this game with a huge 58-yard reception, it was his longest reception dating back to 2009 when he had a 75-yard touchdown against the Washington Redskins.

Marshall registered his third-consecutive 100+ yard receiving game as he totaled 128 receiving yards on 7 receptions. Even though he didn’t record a touchdown in this Week 4 matchup, he’s the first receiver on the Jets to have three straight 100+ receiving yard games since Al Toon did it in 1988!

Next: 3. Good luck on 3rd down

3. Defense wins championships

Is there anything the Jets’ defense can’t do? They absolutely dominated the Dolphins and their attempts on offense. The Jets held the Dolphins’ offense to 0-12 on 3rd down conversations throughout the entire game. Talk about shutting them down early, often and completely.

With this game in the books, the Jets’ defense has 18 consecutive 3rd down stops which hasn’t happened since 2010 in which they had 21 straight 3rd down stops. They could very well tie or beat this record come Week 6 against the Washington Redskins who also have major offensive problems.

2. Ryan Fitzpatrick

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick broke 20,000 career passing yards in this game and had a pretty solid game. Fitzpatrick totaled 218 passing yards on 16 completions for 1 touchdown and an interception.

Considering that Fitzpatrick also has a four-game streak of throwing for at least one touchdown, he also rushed for a 34 yards on the ground. Yes, the bearded one who turns 32 years old in late November got his his longest rush since 2013 when he had a 26-yard rushing game against the Kansas City Chiefs as a member of the Tennessee Titans.

1. Takeaways

It seems like the word “takeaways” has to be a favorite word of the Jets’ defense as they all probably love to try spelling it out completely when they play Words With Friends. The Jets lead the NFL in takeaways this season with 13 so far via 7 fumble recoveries and 6 interceptions.

Overall it’s a +6 turnover margin for the Jets as their revamped defensive secondary is leading the charge against opposing offenses. The way the Jets are playing defensively could very well tell the story of this season as if they keep this up, there is no telling just how far this team can go.
