Jets News: Wilkerson is ready to be unleashed in London

Expect to see the Jets deploy a heavy dose of Muhammad Wilkerson against a Dolphins’ offense that has yet to find its identity.

NY Jets Friday Spotlight: Muhammad Wilkerson by Smackdad (GangGreenNation.com)

"If we see Wilkerson take down multiple times Sunday and be a generally disruptive force in both the pass defense and the run defense, then the Jets should be well positioned to escape London with a victory on Sunday. Ryan Tannehill"

I think it’s incredible that the Jets didn’t extend the contract of Wilkerson considering all he’s done for the franchise since he arrived on the scene. While I don’t think he deserves to be paid as the top at his position, I definitely believe he should get a long-term contract and a decent pay raise due to everything he brings to the table.

Wilkerson should be an x-factor against the Dolphins and if they don’t have any answers for him, expect to see him put on a clinic against a shoddy offensive line. He’s going to wreak havoc against Tannehill all game long.

7 Points: Jets-Dolphins on the London Stage by Randy Lange (NewYorkJets.com)

"The Jets have reversed many trends from last year so far — the scoring, red zone and takeaway defenses are all No. 1 in the NFL, for instance. The Green & White still have been a little slow-starting with one first-quarter touchdown. But the Aqua & Coral have been slower still."

It’s crazy to see how much-improved the Jets are from last season. It’s like night and day but there is still much concern for their offense. Wide receiver Eric Decker is listed as questionable for this matchup as many believe he’ll play but I think it might be best to either not start him or limit his reps.

It would be a real shame to put Decker at a major risk with his knee injury when it’s best to be patient and make sure he’s fully healthy enough to play like normal. While I know his presence is needed on offense, it might be best to sit him out in this one and give others a chance to step up and deliver.

Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 4: Chris Ivory by Kenneth Teape (EmpireWritesBack.com)

"Start Ivory at your own risk, as the Dolphins, despite all their struggles, possess a stout defense against running backs for fantasy football purposes. If you had a running back that you could replace Ivory with last week, it would be recommended to roll with them at again as the injury history and matchup make Ivory an extremely risky play if you are expecting RB2 returns of any kind."

I absolutely love fantasy football but disagree with what Teape said about taking a risk when starting Ivory in fantasy lineups this week. Considering Ivory sat out last week, he’s said to be fine in recovering from his groin injury. It’s one of those injuries that you have to get back into full action and take things one play at a time.

Rest helps tremendously which is what Ivory has been doing since he’s been limited in practice all week long. I have no doubts he will play in this matchup and really light things up offensive. I predict at least a touchdown or two and close to 100 yards rushing.

ICYMI: Across the Pond by Jackie Lovett (NewYorkJets.com)

"A familiar rivalry is set to unfold in an unfamiliar setting this week as the Jets take on the Dolphins at Wembley Stadium in London. The Jets’ first divisional matchup of 2015 marks the 100th time the rivals have gone head-to-head. The Jets have the advantage in the series 51-47-1. Both teams are coming off a losing week. Both teams will be traveling through five time zones. But only one team can come out victorious."

It’s no secret that the traveling will definitely be an interesting scenario for both the Jets and Dolphins. It should be an interesting game since both teams are desperate for a win, the Jets need to prove they are still contenders as the Dolphins are effectively playing to stay afloat this season.

The slight edge goes to the Jets as they have better talent across the roster than the Dolphins do. Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has been a disappointment so far this season as even though many worry that Jets’ offensive lineman Brian Winters might not be able to handle him, one better believe the Jets will turn him into a non-factor in this matchup by double or even triple teaming him.
