Fantasy Football Start or Sit Week 3: NYJ defense

When it comes to defenses in fantasy football, the New York Jets and their stout defense should be on everyone’s roster. Coming off a solid, defensive 20-7 victory over the well-respected Indianapolis Colts, the Jets are now 2-0 for the first time since 2011.

A large reason as to why the Jets are undefeated heading into Week 3 is primarily because of their defense. The Jets’ defense has forced 10 total turnovers in just the first two weeks of the season, 4 of those turnovers resulted in interceptions, the other six are forced fumbles.

Currently, the Jets’ defense is ranked the fourth best in fantasy football, according to NESN fantasy football.

The Jets haven’t wasted any time portraying their new and improved defense to the rest of the league, forcing five turnovers against Cleveland and then another five the following week against the Colts.

This week against Philadelphia, I expect another five. The Jets’ defense is just about great in every aspect, if Sam Bradford decides to test the passing game out against this defense, then his receivers must answer to Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie.

If the Eagles decide to test out DeMarco Murray or Ryan Mathews legs, then they must get past Leonard Williams, Muhammad Wilkerson and Damon Harrison, which you can ask Isaiah Crowell or Frank Gore and they’ll both tell you that’s easier said than done.

If you have not already, I strongly suggest starting the Jets’ defense against the Eagles’ offense, especially due to the Eagles’ weak offensive line. The sack exchange 2.0 shouldn’t have any problems acquainting themselves with Bradford this Sunday.

Chip Kelly has already expressed some concerns with the Eagles’ offense which consists mostly of Bradford, Murray, Mathews, Darren Sproles, Jordan Matthews and Nelson Agholor. It will be interesting to see how these key players respond against the Jets already tough defense after an 0-2 start on the season.

However, spoiler alert, their wont be any response by the Eagles’ offense. Right now, Kelly wishes he still had Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy and Nick Foles. The whole Kelly experiment in Philadelphia has imploded early. Kiko Alonso is battling a concussion with a knee injury and Murray is not the runner he was last year with Dallas.

The Eagles do not have a true No. 1 wide out and the fan base is counting down the weeks until Bradford exits the game with an injury and back up Mark Sanchez takes over just as he did last season.

The Jets’ defense should put on a clinic this Sunday, I predict about 2 interceptions by them and a couple forced fumbles as well. Their defense should post well over 10 points this week, which anything over 10 points for a defense, unless you’re in a PPR league, is exceptional.

Like I said, start the Jets’ defense, it’s a no brainer, you couldn’t ask for a more perfect matchup this week. I’m expecting at least four turnovers this Sunday, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. The Jets’ defense should finish the game not only with their third win of the season but with about 12-15 fantasy points overall.
