Being a fan of the New York Jets usually brings a ton of heartache, sadness and questions as to why you put yourself through so much pain year in, year out. This upcoming season however, the Jets have actually made all the right headlines towards redemption heading what should be a much better year of competitive football.

With an absolutely brilliant offseason filled with fixing their defensive secondary issues, finding a viable veteran quarterback and finally adding some offensive play-makers into the mix, the Jets have turned from pretenders to contenders. They have all the talent they need to have a magical season to really bounce back from their abysmal 4-12 efforts of last year.

By signing Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie and Marcus Gilchrist, the Jets will have quite the nasty defensive secondary that will intimidate opposing offenses nicely. Make no mistake about it, they will be creating turnovers on a daily and consistent basis.

On the offensive side of things, the Jets added wide receiver Brandon Marshall, a quality offensive guard in James Carpenter and were able to add potential diamonds in the rough in running backs Stevan Ridley and Zac Stacy to further enhance their running game.

Now when it comes to the 2015 NFL Draft, this is where the Jets have truly shined as they were able to land the top defensive prospect in the entire draft in Leonard Williams. Make no mistake about it, he will be an absolute beast for years to come. The “Sons of Anarchy” have a new face in town ready to take the NFL by storm.

The Jets also drafted a top wide receiver in Devin Smith who has the potential to really be something special. With a knack of having blazing speed and an ability to haul in touchdowns in the end-zone, he Jets definitely needed to add youth to their wide receiving corps. Smith should be quite the offensive weapon come next season.

With a new regime in place in general manager Mike Maccagnan and head coach Todd Bowles, they have both done an incredible job so far in bolstering this team’s roster. They have successfully brought back a sense of respect and dignity to a franchise that will fight til the very end to become a contender again.

The Jets have tremendously improved compared to what they put on the field last season. The only question mark they have is at quarterback but since the Jets added much more support for whoever will be under center next season, the Jets can actually get away with a subpar performance in the passing game.

If the Jets can focus on continuing to be a ground-and-pound football team, have a stout defense and just play to the strengths of the team, they will indeed have a magical season that will see them return to the NFL Playoffs. Once they get in, there will truly will be no telling just how far they can go since they have all the pieces they need to make a serious run.
