This article is strictly for fun! We’ve spent hours debating the team’s roster. Even more time has been dedicated to debating the pros and cons of Jets management. There is still more time looking ahead to try and find solutions to the problems. I thought we’d step away from the daily grind concerning the Jets today, and take a look at some of favorite our players. The Jets have historically given us a player we all love to root for, even when times have been hard. Let’s take a look at some of the Jets current players that might fit that bill.

Muhammad Wilkerson tops the list with many Jets fans. Wilkerson was drafted by the Jets in the first round of the 2011 draft, and has been a major influence on the Jet defense ever since. Wilkerson is a hometown kid, playing his high school football for Linden High School in Linden, New Jersey and playing his college career for Temple. Wilkerson has been a class act with the Jets, quietly waiting for a contract, while he continues to produce results on the field. Is Wilkerson your favorite player on this roster?

Another player that quickly comes to mind is Jeremy Kerley. Kerley has been a steady contributor for the New York Jets. He came to the Jets as a fifth round selection in the 2011 draft. Kerley is a small school kid, playing his college ball for Texas Christian University. Kerley is the underdog type player many fans love to root for. He’s not a big player, nor does he possess elite speed at the wide receiver position, yet he gets the job done. He’s been a key player on the Jets offense, contributing big time in third down situations. So, maybe Jeremy Kerley is your favorite?

Many Jet fans love to root for the unknown player made good. Damon Harrison definitely fits that bill. “Snacks” as he is lovingly known among his fellow players is a story most Jets fans can appreciate. Harrison came to the Jets as an undrafted free agent after the 2012 draft. Harrison has been nothing but spectacular for the Jets. After playing college ball for William Penn University, he came on board to not only win the starting job, but to dominate opposing offensive lineman as well! Is this your favorite guy on the roster?

Chris Ivory has become a mainstay in the Jet backfield after being acquired by John Idzik from the New Orleans Saints for a fourth round draft pick. Ivory runs the football with purpose, he has a violent running style, and never shies away from a hit. He takes on potential tacklers with a violent streak, and does well after initial contact. He played his college ball for  Washington State and Tiffin. He was an undrafted free agent of the New Orleans Saints, taken after the 2010 draft. He’s another small school, undrafted player made good with the New York Jets. Is he the guy you tune into watch every Sunday?

A relative newcomer to the Jet roster is Sheldon Richardson. As we all know, the Jets chose him in the first round of the 2013 draft, after playing his college career for the University of Missouri. Sheldon has been huge for the Jets since coming on board! He’s been a dominant force along the defensive front, crushing opposing offensive linemen in his path. Sheldon won the Defensive Rookie of the Year award last season, and continues to show improvement in his second year. Maybe this is the guy that gets your blood pumping on Sundays?

No list of favorite Jets could possibly be complete without having Nick Mangold on it. Mangold was drafted by the Jets in the first round of the 2006 draft. Since he’s arrived, Mangold has managed 5 pro bowl selections while anchoring the Jet offensive line. He played college ball for Ohio State University. Many consider him the best center in football. Mangold has been nothing less than spectacular for the Jets both on and off the field. Some believe he’s destined for the Pro Football Hall of Fame when his career comes to an end. It would be very easy to understand Mangold being a fan favorite. Is this your man?

Ok. its time to vote. I listed a few of the more familiar names on the Jets roster, maybe I missed your favorite player to watch on Sunday’s. If I did miss your favorite, please add him in the comment section. If your favorite player is on this list, tell us who he is and why he makes Sunday’s enjoyable to watch. I needed to step away from the schedule today, to move away from all the controversy that surrounds our team right now. I thought this might be a fun distraction. Tell me what you think! Let’s talk Jets football!!
