Notes from New York Jets’ Training Camp: August 4, 2014

CALVIN PRYOR TAKES SOME CONTACT, UNCLEAR FOR THURSDAY: For the first time in days, Calvin Pryor was able to remove the red no-contact jersey, so he was able to take some contact up at training camp today. However, since he has not been cleared for ALL contact, Rex Ryan is unsure as to whether or not Calvin will be available on Thursday against the Colts.

GENO SMITH STARTS THURSDAY NIGHT: In the “Duh” news to end all “duh” news, Geno Smith will start the game on Thursday night at quarterback, Rex Ryan announced today.

IS ERIC DECKER OK? According to observers, Eric Decker did not look at all comfortable today. He caught a short pass and was seen wincing noticeably after the play was over. He also was seen spending time in the rehab area, so there must be some concern. That would be some of the worst news of camp if something is wrong there.

JERMAINE CUNNINGHAM OUT FOR THE YEAR: Even when a backup performer gets hurt, it is tough to hear about. Coach Ryan has advised that linebacker Jermaine Cunningham has sustained an Achilles injury that will require surgery, and end his season. Tough day at camp for Jermaine.
