The Jets are no strangers to confidence. We just need to look back at the quotes attributed to Rex Ryan to know that. However, Rex’s confidence turned into arrogance in the form of predictions. He was putting his team in the league’s crosshairs, not taking the pressure off the team like he originally thought, which is why Rex’s game plan became a problem.
But sheer confidence is OK. And Geno Smith is starting to bring in that confidence. Take a look at what he said to NFL Insider Ian Rappaport:

Why not us? Geno is not guaranteeing a Super Bowl berth. All he is saying is he is confident that his team can make a run. He is becoming a general on the field, surveying his troops, and he feels good about them. He is saying his team has as good of a chance as any.
That is the difference between being confident and being arrogant. I love it.
