Is Nick Mangold the Most Overrated New York Jets’ Player?

Every year, NFL writer Pete Prisco does a write-up for CBS Sports, outlining his take on the most underrated and most overrated players on each team.

For the Jets, he made an interesting choice for the most overrated player. Take a look:

Overrated: C Nick Mangold – He didn’t have the type of season we expect from Mangold. Is it a one-year thing? Or a trend?

Take a look at the rest of Prisco’s post by clicking here.

It’s hard to call a guy overrated after one season that isn’t the level you expect, isn’t it? Although Nick Mangold’s PFF grade has gone down, he wasn’t particularly bad. It’s not as if Mangold reminded us of Wayne Hunter at any point.

Remember, he had to endure playing next to the great Vladimir Ducasse. A lineman’s game is going to suffer a bit when they have to accommodate for the guy next to them. Playing their own position is hard enough, at times Nick had to almost play TWO positions.

Did Nick Mangold have his moments of off play? Sure. But does that make him the most overrated on the roster? I don’t think so, what do you guys think?

Mangold is a beast at center, he’s had a few injuries, and he may not be the beast he once was, but he’s as solid as they come. Ferguson’s game has shown signs of wear and tear as well. The Jets line is aging and will need to be addressed. Some good things out of camp regarding Dozier and Aboushi, hopefully it will continue. Colon has become a big question mark with the most recent injury, the Jets have very little in experienced depth. Aboushi and Campbell from last year’s draft never dressed for a game. They need some of these guys to step up big time, in case someone goes down. I’m not concerned with Mangold or Ferguson, the rest of the group is more concerning.
