I would say breaking news, but everyone in the UNIVERSE expected this news to come.

According to AP, the Jets have released Mike Goodson.

Mike Goodson has had his difficulties in a New York Jets uniform, starting with his troubles last season, both on the field and off. He never had a real chance to succeed, mainly based on his own doings.

Then comes this year and the opening of mandatory minicamp yesterday. Goodson was not in attendance, and apparently nobody knew where he was either.

One place we now know he won’t be is with the Jets.

So, the backfield goes back to what we expected it to be, Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson, Bilal Powell, Daryl Richardson and Alex Green.

As stated before, between the crowded backfield on the field, and all of the problems off of it, this was no shock. Most of the world believed that Mike Goodson was going to be released.

Just letting everybody know that it is finally official. Bye bye Mike Goodson, we hardly knew thee.

The hypocrites on here were blasting Idzik for not releasing him sooner. Fortunately Idzik is running the team and not the so called “fans”. Here is why Idzik was waiting, read and learn something for a change:

“They have released him with a “left squad” designation to ensure they won’t be on the hook for an injury
settlement. Goodson is unlikely to be anywhere near 100% right now, so they might otherwise have ended up liable for some or all of his salary.:

Good catch Frank. Subtle thing that only guys like John Idzik would catch.

Geez Frank, you are a virtual plethora of information. Its amazing how we ever got along with out the benefit of you wisdom! My hero!!!!

      • Frank Antonelli

Well my aim is to educated Jet fans. Instead of trying to be sarcastic you might actually try to do some research and base your opinions on fact rather than emotion. Try it sometime!

        • RONBO19

Frank, If all you did is try to educate fans I would have no problem with that. It’s when you start calling people names that i have a problem. It sounds to me like you went to the Richie Incognito school of discussion which basically agree’s there are two sides to every argument, but you are not interested in hearing any one else’s side? Actually, when you articulate your points you usually sound like the bright guy you probably are. But when you call people dick heads due-sch bags and what ever pops into your head you dont sound like the same bright guy. Now i get it that your passionate but so am I and so is Paul.maybe we are a little older than you are and perhaps our patience with the process is at a different stage? maybe some one other than you actually does know a little about football and personnel decisions which many so called experts also questioned?

          • Frank Antonelli

DO SOME RESEARCH! No-one questioned the move at the time. One expert stated:

“Goodson brings a jump in athleticism and speed compared to what Shonn
Greene presented last year at running back. Goodson and teammate Chris Ivory could form a deadly
            two-headed attack.”

So do some research and stop reacting emotionally to everything. I guess you’re just being like all the idiotic Jet fans who arrive drunk to the stadium and spew their ill-informed hate.

          • RONBO19

Actually Frank, i did question the move as Goodson came with a history of immaturity as he had a couple if incidents in Oakland after a brief unproductive stint in Carolina. I do agree on paper Goodson was a good compliment to Ivory as his speed was a great change of pace to Ivory’s power style. My concern with the signing was based on his past poor displays in judgment which again manifested themselves with us.

          • Frank Antonelli

What a joke! I guess you consider yourself an expert!!!! Too bad you didn’t let Idzik in on your little secret! Give me a break.

          • RONBO19

Frankie baby, you don’t have to be an expert to see a pattern of poor decision making which might lead anyone with an I.Q over room temperature question whether or not this guy was a good signing. Yes its hindsight, but its clear to any rational person that this was a poor investment. I know you want to glorify Izzy as the second coming of Vince Lombardi but the fact of the matter is in this case we screwed up!

          • Frank Antonelli

Go fuck yourself asshole. Don’t be so condensing and don’t call me Frankie. Like I said go FUCK YOURSELF.

          • RONBO19

Frankie Baby, your mastery of the English language continues to impress us all here on this blog. Keep up the good work!

          • Frank Antonelli

You are football illiterate and you prove it every time you post on here. Why don’t you try doing some research and stop your constant whining and complaining. You are a complete waste of human skin.

          • RONBO19

Frankie baby, nice to see your vocabulary has expanded to the use of a new additive
            ‘illiterate” Wow! How impressive!!!!

          • Frank Antonelli

Like the troll that you are you can’t stop responding! I’ll let you have the last word since your life is so pathetic that might make you happy!

  • Paul Newbold

He didn’t show for mandatory camp, done deal. Good Riddance! Idzik’s first free agency signing as the Jets GM turned out disappointing, hopefully that doesn’t carry over to the free agents he signed this year with serious injury concerns. Johnson, Ford, Patterson and Vick all carry the same label, “injury pronged”, though Johnson to a less degree, but still rehabbing just before camp. Hopefully they all can stay healthy and produce, otherwise the “value” in these signings won’t be realized! Here’s hoping!

    • Frank Antonelli

Nice of you to inform us of this deep insight! I didn’t see you criticizing this pickup when it first happened. Actually it was pretty universally praised. I guess it’s great living in your world of 20/20 hindsight. None of us know the full story and we can all have 20/20 hindsight. Instead of trying to state something that is rendered obvious via hindsight you might actually try to do some research and share some insight based on knowledge rather than spewing your emotional rants. Try it sometime!

      • Paul Newbold

Short memory Frank, I raised my concerns about both the Ivory and Goodson signings last year, based on their injury records. I believe the name you used for me then was moron, yet Ivory has missed his share of time, and Goodson broke down before he ever got going. I applaud the fact, that you didn’t resort to name calling in this post however. My “rants” as you often refer to them, are sometimes emotional, you are correct, I am a fan and it happens to the best of us. As far as research, I do my best there, reading several different sites based on the Jets, watching film of both current players, and draftees when available. As I’ve told you before I played the game in my youth, have a modest coaching background, and have been a Jet fan before they were the Jets. My opinions are my own, and I gladly will debate them in an intelligent manner anytime.
