New York Jets' Wilkerson Speaks At Charity Event

Muhammad Wilkerson was giving back to the community again tonight as he personally presented two scholarships to students at his alma mater Linden High School (N.J.). This has been part of a string of events that Wilkerson has taken part in supporting his T.E.A.M96 group which provides assistance to college bound high school seniors in Union County, NJ. While at the event yesterday, he spoke to the media about his contract and the defense as a whole (all quotes from Kimberley Martin of Newsday’s twitter feed @KMart_LI):

It has been a pleasure to watch Wilkerson grow from a quiet defensive end just learning his craft in 2011 to a bona fide team leader on the field, in the locker room and in the community. It goes without saying that Wilkerson should be financially rewarded after the season and all indications from both Idzik and Wilkerson point to that happening. Muhammad Wilkerson is a cornerstone piece to what the Jets are building both today and going forward and I look forward to him continuing to be a Jet for a long time to come.
