John Idzik comes on board with an interesting division of the spending amongst the positions on the Jets.

New York Jets: Pre-Draft Press Conference Notes

Today New York Jets general manager John Idzik addressed the media in the annual pre-draft press conference. In typical Idzik fashion the Jets GM was tight lipped and answered questions in the vaguest of fashions, no doubt in an attempt to keep the Jets draft strategy between him and the rest of the front office. The front office is something he talked about, stating that he would put his scouts against anyone in the league.

Idzik did not talk about any players today(outside of Mike Goodson), but he did talk about the compensatory draft system and how the additional picks the Jets have give them flexibility to move up and down in the draft. This might be a tell to their draft strategy but more like is more disinformation attempting to hide the Jets true intentions from other teams. One thing we do know for certain is that Idzik and his staff will have their draft board ready by this weekend.

This is approach is completely in line with what we have come to expect from Idzik so far, and while his approach has been at times frustrating to the fans, it has proven to be effective thus far. This is the man after all who was forced into a hard situation (last years salary cap) and was able to turn one of the best cornerbacks in the league (Darrelle Revis) into the defensive rookie of the year (Sheldon Richardson).

Here are some of the tweets from Manish Mehta this morning from the press conference.

Unless the really good ones are gone, they’re going to go DB. The hole in the roster plus the schedule seems to add up to it.
