Jets Exercise Fifth Year Option on Mo Wilkerson

Mo Wilkerson has a lot of reasons to be smiling as he is in the picture to the right.

As reported earlier by the Jets Blog, the Jets have decided to exercise their team option for 2015, which will pay Wilkerson $6.9 million in 2015.

No surprise here, as Wilkerson has made great strides in the league, to becoming one of the top defensive ends in the sport.  He is only 24 years old, and in 2013, posted 63 tackles, 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception.

Mo Wilkerson is becoming every bit the leader along a dominant defensive line that they have expected of him since drafting him from Temple University.

Mo Wilkerson has gotten better and better every down he has played in the Green and White, so it’s not a shock that the Jets want to keep him around for the additional year.

Good move by John Idzik and company tonight.  Not everything he does is “flashy”, but it is done to make the team better, and that is all we can ask for.
