John Idzik and company have been awarded their additional chips for the NFL draft. And they are pretty good.
The league has announced the compensatory draft choices, and the Jets have been awarded one pick in the fourth round, the 137th overall, and three picks in the sixth round. These were the 209th, 210th, and 213th overall.
Most of you know, but there is a formula that these picks are awarded, by free agent losses the previous year, and the value of the player. For example, the fourth round pick was awarded due to the loss of Laron Landry.
What does this mean? Well, these are four choices that cannot be traded. But, it gives the team some flexibility. The Jets can trade their own picks in the third and fourth round, for example, to bring back DeSean Jackson, and still know they have the additional compensatory picks to fall back on.
Does this mean that DeSean Jackson is heading up I-95 soon? Only time will tell.
