Break ups are never easy. While this breakup may be easier than those in prior instances, (i.e. Laron Landry), it is good to know that even through the end, Mark Sanchez has been nothing less than a class act. While his performance on the field may not have always displayed it, Mark Sanchez was a great New York Jet. Today he capped off his New York Jets career with a thank you letter to New York, New Jersey, and Jets fans all around. In a classy move, Sanchez thanks the organization for giving him his first NFL opportunity, and thanks all the fans for basically sticking with him over the course of his tenure here in New York.
I haven’t been the biggest Sanchez supported but how he ended last year on an injury in the Snoopy Bowl, something about this Sanchez/Jets relationship doesn’t sit well with me. Granted we paid him a lot of money and other than 2009 and 2010, he didn’t really produce but he is still a person. I am sure he heard everything in the news as well as some of the small section of Jets Fans who directed threats at him, publicly heckled him, and booed him at his own home stadium. That has to be a confidence killer. Despite all of that he still stays humble and thanks the fans. One thing that stuck out to me the most was him focusing on the good times. That is a great way to look at things for both Sanchez, and us the fans. Remember that feeling you got waiting for that that next season following 2010 playoff run? Thank you Mark Sanchez for your dedication to the organization, you were always a professional. Please find Marks letter to the fans below:
