Taking a Look at Potential New York Jets: Wide receiver DeSean Jackson

Time to get past the quarterback situation, and talk about the weapons that whomever plays will have a chance to throw to. The rumor has it that the Jets have serious interest in another former Eagle. He throws to the other team. I am talking about DeSean Jackson.

Here are his stats in the league so far:

This is an example of an explosive player, there is no doubt about that. Also, he should have a lot of football left in him at the mere age of 27.

Here are some highlights from DeSean Jackson:

Jackson is fast, and elusive. He makes people miss with the ball in his hands. Getting yards after the catch, an essential skill in the West Coast offense, is easy for DeSean. He has great hands, he catches everything that comes near him.

He would be the perfect fit in this offense.

If they can get him at a reasonable price, John Idzik needs to make this move.  He is only two years removed from excellent play, so hopefully DeSean can get back to that form.

I’d love to see Desean Jackson on the Jets! Sadly, he’s going to draw a lot of interest, and the bidding is likely to go too high for Idzik. The Raiders have the cap space and the need to once again out bid Idzik, if not, you might see Buffalo land him. I think his experience would benefit the Jets WR group, his speed and athleticism surely would aid our offense! Besides his potential on game day, he might make a great mentor for Hill. If he could help Hill’s game, the Jets would have Hill’s speed on one side, Eric Decker’s possession skills, Kerley’s slot talent and Jackson on the other side. Not too shabby…now they need to spend to land him!!

It will be interesting to see how rich the offer needs to be to get him, Paul.
