We can all agree that the guy to the right has a lot more work to do. Frustration is understandable, as John Idzik has been blessed with a lot of money to play with, and isn’t spending much of it.
By all accounts, Idzik is very deliberate with his process, and won’t budge from his negotiating position. That’s a good thing in that he won’t ever over pay for someone. But on the other hand, he may lose out on some players as well. Has that happened this off-season? Probably. Heck, I admit that I have questions.
But, there are a lot of fans ready to take off Idzik’s head. I just want to remind you all the following, training camp is a long way away. No team has ever won the Lombardi trophy in March. There is plenty of time to do plenty of work.
Take a look at just some of the names available on the secondary free agent market:
These are only some of the names still available, and obviously, they won’t all help to the same level. But, each name here would make the team better. It’s the secondary free agent market, there are mid-level players that would be an asset, and not break the bank.
Don’t forget that trades could still happen as well. There is a rumor that the Jets are trying to trade for cornerback Jonathan Joseph, for example. That would satisfy the CB problem.
There is always the draft as well, which we know is going to be our lifeline.
There are many questions, but much time to answer them. It’s a long time until training camp.
