Michael Vick to Visit the New York Jets This Weekend

Eliot Shorr-Parks of is reporting the Michael Vick is scheduled to visit the New York Jets facilities in Florham Park this weekend. It seems that Michael Vick has come to the realization that most teams do not view him as a starting caliber QB anymore. There is no doubt in my mind that Michael Vick is a guy who can come in and win you a few games if, god forbid, something were too happened to the starting QB. Vick has just had too many durability issues throughout his career. Even with Andy Reid teaching him how to be a pocket passer, his game flourishes best when on the move.

This seems to be happening to the New York Jets at the perfect as well. They have been pretty silent in free agency this year with the exception of the Decker deal. A signing of a solid, competent backup, like a Michael Vick, could be a move that is well within the fiscal limitations Idzik has set for this year. After the market has settled and regulated itself, Vick’s asking price cannot be too high. At the least, it will be less than it was at the beginning of free agency. With Vick as a backup to 2nd year QB Geno Smith, Geno knows that if he regresses, there is a more than competent body who can fill in an actually win some games. One would assume that can only push Geno to excel. Also, towards the end of the 2013 season, we saw Geno use his legs more. Hopefully, Michael Vick could be able to show Geno how to use his legs safely.  Wishful thinking right?

Oh Please NO!! Not Vick!! He’s no longer competent!! He’s aged poorly, he can’t stay on the field and he’s become a turn over machine!! The guy hasn’t been able to play a full season in years! Fact is he’s only played one 16 game year in his career! He’s no longer the running threat he once was, he’s never made the transition to being a pocket passer and the result has been the turnovers!! He struggled under Mornhering’s system in Philly, mostly because o the offensive line woes, but the Jets O line is a question mark in itself!! I’ve said it before…if they sign Vick, this team will suffer!! He’s not the type of guy who can or will sit quietly in the locker room if he’s not the starter!! No Vick Please!!!

All valid points but what sticks out to me the most is the last part about Vick not being able to sit quietly as a #2. One would hope that he could be mature enough to understand his limitations etc.

Hardly likely since he’s continually said he wants to start wherever he lands, Doesn’t sound like he’s accepted that limitation yet! If worse comes to worse, keep Sanchez at a reduced price, or let Simms back Geno up! It makes absolutely no sense to me to throw money at Vick!!
