Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to the New York...........Giants

Well, the choice has been made by Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, but it wasn’t the one that we had hoped for.

“Pro Football Talk”, among other sources, are reporting that DRC has signed with our roommates at MetLife Stadium, the New York Giants. Word is that the deal is five years, worth $35 million. No word as to how much of that was guaranteed to Dominique.

Put him on the list of cornerbacks that have turned the Jets down. We have Alterraun Verner, Vontae Davis, Captain Munnerlyn, and Brandon Bronwer, among others. The hole vacated by Antonio Cromartie is still there.

So, where do the Jets go from here? Do they bring Cromartie home, as he is still available? Do they bring in another free agent still on the list, like Terrell Thomas? Or, as a member of the fan base pointed out, take to the draft and choose a corner with the number 18 pick?

It would seem to go against John Idzik’s BPA style, but at this point, it could happen.

    I’m nervous.

But this is also saying that Idzik does have faith in Dee Milliner. After all he turned in a stellar performance against some top tier WRs by the end of the season.

    • Alan Schechter

I can understand the lack of faith, at least now. He needs a mentor I think.

    • Paul Newbold

Unless Millner can man both sides of the field at the same time, they desperately need a top notch corner for Rex’s defense. He relies heavily on his corners, and the hole created by Cromartie’s decline, was apparent last year. The experiment of moving Wilson to the outside was a disaster!!

Seems like a reasonable price, I’d be curious where the Jets drew the line. Or if it was just player preference? Of course we’ll never know. Cro coming back might be in the works, but I question what he has left. The Jets knew they had CB needs going into the “off season”. If plan A was to fill the need during free agency, surely the Jets have plan B via the draft. “In Idzik We Trust” :)
