According to Manish Mehta, of The Daily News, it seems the New York Jets have rescheduled the meeting with Emmanuel Sanders that was supposed to take place today. Due to a “scheduling conflict,” it seems that the New York Jets will have to reschedule this meeting with Sanders. Instead, today Sanders will be hosted by the Kansas City Chiefs. Let us not forget, Sanders visited with Jacksonville earlier in the week.
The New York Jets are coming off of signing the best wide receiver in this free agent class with the signing of Eric Decker. Despite that signing, and the presence of Jeremy Kerley in the slot, the New York Jets are still in need of some elite wide receivers or offensive play makers in general, to stretch the field vertically. At this point it is safe to say that Emmanuel Sanders is the best free agent wide receiver still available. I would like to believe that the Jets will still make a modest push for him but I must say, I would like to think that you wouldn’t treat a highly regarded free agent in that matter. You couldn’t imagine them doing that to Verner, Byrd, or any of the other top tier previously free agents. Would this lead us to believe that the Jets will undoubtedly go wide receiver or tight end with the first pick in the draft? I would believe so. I just don’t think that an organization that is excited to be a hosting a free agent reschedules or cancels the visit. Flat out, it is just a bad representation of the company. There must be a legitimate reason though as Idzik seems to have all his ducks in a row with regards to all other aspects of managing the organization.
