Brandon Pettigrew Signs Contract to Remain with the Detroit Lions

There goes a guy that was on the Jets’ radar at the tight end position.

Here is a tweet from the Detroit Lions’ account directly:

Despite the fact that Manish Mehta was reporting that the Jets were going to be the team to land the services of the tight end, Brandon has decided to go back to Detroit on a four-year deal.

Good move by John Idzik staying below that here.  That is an overpayment for a mid-level tight end, at best.

Now, what’s next at the position for the Jets? Well, we know they have interest in the NFL draft, but if they were to continue the free agent route, here are some names that are still available, as per the free agency tracker:

Or, they could put together an offer that the Saints can’t refuse for Jimmy Graham.  Not that it’s Idzik style, just acknowledging the possibility is all.

The unrestricted free agent pool is running a bit dry, maybe they are looking to the draft here.
