New York Jets to Go After Eric Decker and James Jones?

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas……..

Well, maybe. If the reports coming out late this afternoon come to fruition. We have been tracking the negotiations between the Jets and Eric Decker all day long. According to Adam Schefter, the two sides are working towards a deal.

Now, we hear, according to Manish Mehta, that the Jets have real interest in WR James Jones, formerly of the Packers.  According to Manish’s report, the Jets are interested, but at the time of his post, the Jets had not scheduled Jones for a visit.

Couple that with this tweet from NFL insider Ian Rappaport:

James Jones is 29 years old, and going into 2014, only two seasons removed from a 14 touchdown performance with the Green Bay Packers.

We know the receiver that Eric Decker has become, albeit partially to do with catching passes from Peyton Manning.

How about that? What do you guys think if the Jets bring in this duo?

Sign one guy, but signing both would be a waste of money at one position.

I can see your point somewhat. They signed Decker at a reasonable price however. If they could sign another veteran receiver, they would lessen their need to rush into a first round WR pick. Historically that hasn’t been very successful for the Jets. With two veterans in place, they can wait until the second or even third rounds to grab a receiver and allow him to develop under veteran leadership.
