Darrelle Revis Signs With Patriots

Per Adam Schefter, the New England Patriots have signed Darrelle Revis. He has been signed to a one-year, $12 million contract. News came out earlier that the New York Jets had spoken with Revis, although Brian Costello reported that Revis had contacted the Jets, not the other way around.

The trade the Jets made with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers looks a little less like a win after this news comes out. Jets received a pick, which they used on Sheldon Richardson, as well as a fourth round pick for this year’s draft. That pick could’ve been a third round pick had the Buccaneers kept him past 4pm.

For all the Jets fans who wanted Revis back, it is only a one-year deal. However, based on how quick this happened, the Jets want nothing to do with Revis anymore. He contacted them to see if they were interested, and based on the fact he signed with the Patriots, and did so less than five hours after getting released tells me the Jets told him they weren’t interested.

I can’t say this doesn’t hurt. The Patriots were the only team that it would bother me if Revis went to, and he went there. Part of the reasoning has to be to get to know Rex Ryan’s system. However, they also need corner help with Aqib Talib now with the Broncos. Who do the Jets go after now to help their secondary?

Ha/Ha/Ha Revis signs a single year for how much? reportedly 12 million! If memory serves me that is the exact number the Jets offered him before the trade to TB!!! Let’s see if he can actually honor this contract!! Of course the Jets told him to take a hike! Let the Pats put up with his childish rants, and need to be in the media spotlight, let them deal with the mysterious hamstrings, let them deal with Uncle Gilbert, let them assume the risk on that ACL, and let them dish out 12 million for a pain in the butt CB!! The Jets did exactly the right thing here, they turned their backs on a ungrateful and dysfunctional player, they looked forward, instead of backwards! They are building a team o the future…and Revis will have no part in it!! Later MEvis!!!

Amen brother. The clown could have had a 10 year 120M deal with the Jets back when they were operating like a dysfunctional front office. Now that Idzik is in charge Mevis is left with one year contracts which hopefully will come back to bite him. If Karma is around the corner then a career ending injury would be pure justice.

Well, I don’t wish a career ending injury on anyone, but MEvis is beginning to reap the harvest of his greed! If he thinks for one minute that he can self promote himself and cause a media stir in New England, like he has in NY and Tampa, then he will be short lived there! The problem with MEvis joining the Pats is that the Pat organization likes for its players to stay out of the press and keep a low profile. Like him or not, Bellicheat has always promoted team play! Revis has NEVER been a team player! It’ll be fun this summer watching the Pats trying to keep him quiet and trying to keep their shiny image intact when they fail to muzzle him!!!
