That didn’t take long. It looks like the Jets will be in the market to hire a new right tackle. Austin Howard appears to be out the door, per this tweet from Manish Mehta:
Raiders have an agreement in place with RT Austin Howard (who is making a visit to Oakland), per source. Jets will lose him #nyj

If this is the case, it leaves a big hole on the right side of the Jets’ offensive line, with Willie Colon hitting the open market, and Howard migrating to the west coast. He is an up and coming tackle, who improved greatly in his two seasons as the Jets’ right tackle.
We heard earlier tonight that the Jets had at least one contingency plan in mind, in the form of Zach Strief from the New Orleans Saints. Hopefully the Jets can schedule a meeting with him soon, as the right side of the line is now a dire need for this team.
Can’t go far without an offensive line. This will just make the next few days all the more interesting.
