The Folk hero is here to stay! As reported by Andy Lange on Twitter, The Jets have signed late game hero kicker Nick Folk to a multi year deal shortly after placing the franchise tag on him. This will likely secure Folk for 3-4 years at a relatively low rate considering he is one of the most accurate kickers in the NFL. Although figures have not been revealed yet I expect this to be something around a 10 million dollar deal for 3 to 4 years. Depending on how clever Idzik got the monetary sum couyld be as low as 8 million, although we will have to wait and see. Either way one of our most consistent scoring weapons in past years is here to stay, and we still have plenty of room under the cap to make a splash in this free agency period. For now one aspect of the team is solidified.

In other news: OT Austin Howard has reached free agency now that the team and Howard’s agents couldn’t come to an agreement before the free-agency period. Austin Howard came by way of the Eagles and was an ascending developmental player. Considering how fast offensive linemen are getting snagged up in free agency, Idzik will have to act fast to shore up a strong O-line for next season.
