Well, this is an interesting turn of events.
As reported by Adam Schefter, the Bucs have been shopping around former Jets’ CB Darrelle Revis. The story is, if they haven’t found a team willing to make a trade by 4 PM tomorrow, he will be given his outright release.
So, the Jets trade Darrelle Revis, get a pick that becomes the defensive rookie of the year in Sheldon Richardson, and all the Bucs get out of it is one year from Revis where the team went 4-12. Turns out to be a “great” move by the Bucs.
The timing tomorrow is actually very crucial because of the terms of the trade made last season. If the Revis is on the Tampa roster after 4 PM, the pick the Jets acquire becomes a third round pick, the 69th overall. If he is cut or traded before that time, the pick is in the fourth round, the 100th overall.
In other news, if he becomes a free agent, the Jets wouldn’t bring him back, would they?
