Darrelle Revis to be Released by Wednesday if not Traded

Well, this is an interesting turn of events.

As reported by Adam Schefter, the Bucs have been shopping around former Jets’ CB Darrelle Revis. The story is, if they haven’t found a team willing to make a trade by 4 PM tomorrow, he will be given his outright release.

So, the Jets trade Darrelle Revis, get a pick that becomes the defensive rookie of the year in Sheldon Richardson, and all the Bucs get out of it is one year from Revis where the team went 4-12. Turns out to be a “great” move by the Bucs.

The timing tomorrow is actually very crucial because of the terms of the trade made last season. If the Revis is on the Tampa roster after 4 PM, the pick the Jets acquire becomes a third round pick, the 69th overall. If he is cut or traded before that time, the pick is in the fourth round, the 100th overall.

In other news, if he becomes a free agent, the Jets wouldn’t bring him back, would they?

Where are all the clowns that said that Idzik made a bad deal and should have gotten more!!!! This should go down as the best trade the Jets ever made. The Bucs realize what a TERRIBLE deal they made. They gave up a 1st which turned out to be a future star in Richardson and a likely 4th. No-one will probably trade for Mevis since they know the Bucs will probably just release him to save the 3rd rounder and 16M. I’m sure Mevis agents were telling the Bucs that Mevis would probably hold out if he didn’t get a long term deal, as promised by the previous Bucs regime. They wisely told him where he can take his a s s. Goodbye and don’t let the door hit you on the way out. If this was Tanny he’d probably go after Mevis but Idzik is way too smart to get involved with that self-centered jerk again.

I agree with you Frank..I don’t see any way that he is back.

I’d hate to loose the third round pick, but will gladly settle for a 4th. We got the better end of that deal either way! Could Revis return? It’s possible….Rex loves this kid, and he still is a good corner. Should they bring him back? Hell No!! He’s just too self centered and money hungry!! Idzik s smarter than that!!
