With the free agency period about to begin, let’s talk about some rumors to hit the wire today.

The first was early, regarding the offensive line. According to several reports, the Jets are going to pursue and make an offer to Chiefs’ guard Jon Asamoah. He has played in 60 games for his career, starting in 41 of them.

The second one is interesting. According to Brian Costello of the New York Post, the Jets have expressed interest in Alterraun Verner, Titans’ CB. He posted five interceptions last season, and 11 over his four-year career to date.

Manish Mehta from the Daily News gave further context via Twitter, stating that he is going to be a second option to explore, if the team is unable to restructure the contract of Antonio Cromartie.

Until something happens, we are going to be a bit in the dark, as John Idzik does not make his intentions clear. But, the speculation is quite interesting…..

All for restructuring Cro…to a point…but Jets need an upgrade at corner regardless. Verner could be a nice fit for a reasonable price. Ditto bringing in Asamoah if they can’t work a deal to bring back Colon, or have doubts he’ll be 100%.
