Conflicting Reports Regarding Santonio Holmes' Status

Well, to recap some news from the day, let’s talk about the reports on Santonio Holmes.

First, there was a report from our friends at Turn On the Jets, stating that the Jets had, in fact, released Santonio Holmes.  The information came from a source close to the team.

Then, we have this report from The Jets Blog, which referenced a tweet from Jets’ beat reporter Brian Costello.  In that, he mentioned that he had been receiving many questions, and in fact Santonio Holmes was still on the team.

In evaluating this situation, I would have to agree with Bent from The Jets Blog, that the decision is likely in, but we are just waiting for the Jets to have the paperwork officially processed by the league.

There is the possibility, albeit a remote one, that the Jets could let Holmes go, and bring him back on a reduced salary.  That seems highly unlikely, as he should get an offer from another team on a one year “show me” contract.

We will wait for official word from the team.
