We now know that if Eric Ebron is available to be chosen by the Jets, they will be taking a guy that is fast.

It is day one of workouts from the NFL Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, and the tight ends have run their 40 yard dashes. A time of note was Eric Ebron, a player likely being targeted by the New York Jets to fill a need for a weapon down the seam.

Eric Ebron ran both of his heats in the 40 yard dash, and his timing, unofficially, was exactly the same, a 4.50. That is the type of time we expect from big time wide receivers, so it is a terrific time for a tight end.

Obviously this is not the only point of information to judge Ebron’s talent. We need to see his drills and other workout results, which haven’t been completed at the time of this post. However, knowing that the kid is fast doesn’t hurt, and in that area, he was quite impressive.

It would appear that Eric will not be taking part in positional drills as he tweaked his hamstring running the 40 yard dash. It’s a shame that it is looking like he won’t perform, many were excited to watch.
