You know how sometimes we have exes in our lives, that although it ended badly, we still hold a candle for? We have all been there, it’s human nature.
Well, this could well be the case with Jets’ coach Rex Ryan, and former cornerback Darrelle Revis. It you listen to Rex talk about Darrelle, I think you will agree.
During Super Bowl week here in NY, Rex Ryan was asked about Darrelle when talking to reporters. Specifically, he was asked about if Richard Sherman has risen to Revis level. If you ask Sherman he obviously has, but what does Rex have to say about it:
“I think when you look at it, Sherman’s probably a guy that has played about as well as any corner in the league this year,” Ryan said. “So that’s great. But overall, I think the year that Revis had — the first two years that I was here — I don’t think, not Richard Sherman or anybody — can compare to the years Revis had.”
See what I mean? It’s like the coach is always going to hold out that flickering candle for his ex. He has moved on, but he will always have feelings for Darrelle.
If Darrelle Revis is back to full health in 2014, we will learn once and for all which one is better, him or Richard Sherman. It will be an interesting battle, that’s for sure.
