Happy Sunday, Gang Green fans. I hope that everyone in the metro area is staying warm thanks to the Polar Vortex, and getting ready for the Pro Bowl tonight. If not watching the Pro Bowl, I hope you are getting ready to enjoy whatever else you may be doing, and I am glad you are spending the morning cup of coffee with us.
With that, let’s continue counting down. What are we counting? The top ten moments of the 2013 season for the New York Jets. We are up to number four. The most recent was Bilal Powell’s performance against the Bills.
What do we have for number five? I’ll tell you…
FOLK HERO TOPS THE PATRIOTS AT METLIFE
The “Folk Hero” was money all season long. Whenever it came to a situation where the Jets needed a kick to win a football game, Nick Folk was there to get the job done. How good? He was a perfect 27-27 for his PAT’s. He only missed three of thirty-six field goal attempts, for a career high of 91.7%.
He kicked the Jets to several game-winners, beginning on opening day against the Tampa Bay Bucs. So, why does this game make the list?
Because it’s the New England Patriots, that’s why. Earlier in the year, when Tom Brady was having a lot of difficulty communicating with his weapons, the Jet nearly beat the Pats at Gillette Stadium. They were as much to blame as the Jets were, but the fact was still there that the Jets almost won that game. They were just a couple of plays away from playing for the sweep in this one.
So again, the Jets played them tough. They stayed right there until the very end, giving themselves a chance to win. Nick Folk kicking that game winner secured a huge win, which is why it hits the list at number four.
