In a year when the Jets worked to get younger and faster, one of the Jets’ longest running veterans found the fountain of youth. After we all had written him off as being old and slow, he came back to show us all. That is why he is our Comeback Player of the Year. It is outside linebacker, Calvin Pace.

If you remember, he was due quite a high salary in 2013, so the Jets released him. They then brought him back at a lower salary. The thought was that he would play situationally, maybe, and mentor the other linebackers. He wasn’t supposed to be any kind of factor on the season.

Well, Calvin must have taken that as motivation, because we saw a new and improved Calvin.

He started every game in 2013, and was a dominant edge rusher. Calvin Pace posted a career high of ten sacks. He was a force in the backfield all year, credited with 21 quarterback hurries, and three hits, in addition to his sacks. It was a stellar year for Calvin Pace.

And that is why he is our comeback player of the year.
