We have been giving out “wings”, to the top players in each game, all season long. Now it is time to announce who the Jet Press player of the year is. Simply put, it’s the player that “Earned Their Wings” the most. The top wing-earner, the player of the year.

This will be the first awarding of this honor, and we have a tie. More accurately, we have a three-way tie. So, there are three co-players of the year, who each earned wings seven times. Here are the three:

GENO SMITH: As is normal in the NFL, when the quarterback plays well, the team plays well. Geno played so well in the wins, especially over the last two weeks, that he earned his wings seven times and earned the co-honor.

CHRIS IVORY: Quietly, Chris Ivory had an excellent season, rushing for 833 yards and three touchdowns, and a 4.6 yard per carry average. Once he got healthy, Chris showed the world why the fan base wanted Ivory on this team since the 2012 season.

MUHAMMAD WILKERSON: Of course Big Mo won a share of this award. He should be planning out his wardrobe for Hawaii and the Pro Bowl. He posted 64 tackles, 10.5 sacks, three passes defended, one interception, and two forced fumbles.
