Breaking: New York Jets rookie cornerback Dee Milliner named AFC Defensive Player of the week. After having a rough start to an injury plagued beginning of his rookie season, it seems Dee Milliner is ending on a high note. Any ardent Jets fan who watches every game has ridden the Dee Milliner roller coaster this season. He suffered multiple in game benchings and had gotten burned on enough deep routes for any Jets fan to see.
Dee Milliner had very big shoes to fill as he was anointed the Revis replacement. We understand that Dee Milliner is not Darrelle Revis. With that said, that doesn’t mean that Milliner will not develop into a very good cornerback in this league. As the season progressed you saw that he was having better placement between the receiver and the ball on throws down field. Dee has the physical tools to get it done as well. One routes/throws that he reads correctly, he is quick to close in on the ball and defender. The delayed preseason due to injury probably had something to do with his slow start. According to Profootballfocus.com, Dee Milliner
earned the highest grade of his young career with a +5.2 mark with his two interceptions Sunday at Miami. This is a great sign for us as Jets fans. Our secondary was a bit of a weak spot on our great defense this year. If Milliner keeps progressing in the manner that he has towards the end of this newly finished regular season, we are good shape.
Congratulations to Dee Milliner for taking home AFC Defensive Player of the Week Honors.
