D’Brickashaw Ferguson on Consecutive Game Streak

Nov 17, 2013; Orchard Park, NY, USA; New York Jets tackle D

We all know the woes of the Jets’ offense. It has been brutal, that’s all I am going to say.

But through it all, there has been a mainstay, and he plays left tackle. Did anyone realize that D’Brickashaw Ferguson is getting ready for his 125th consecutive start? I didn’t.

Brick has been a consistent force on the left side of the line, and has quietly ran up this 124 game streak, about to become 125. He talked about it yesterday, when he was asked if he takes pride in being so durable:

Yeah, again, I don’t think that I have a lot of control over it. I’ve been blessed not to be on the ground or hurt. I’m just happy that I’ve been picked to play this position. I’m happy that I’ve been picked to play this position for this long and I’m still fighting every day to represent for the left side. So, it’s a great challenge, but it’s something that, again, it’s what I do and I’m happy to be in this position.

Coach Ryan takes pride in having Brick on the left side of his line:

…but D’Brickashaw Ferguson is going to start. He’s going to start his 125th consecutive game. He’s started every game since his rookie year. That’s the first Jet in the history of this franchise to start (their career with) 125 consecutive games. Really, I appreciate you bringing that up, you gave me an opportunity to fire that out there without answering the question.

Getting an offensive line to perform well takes consistency. It takes having the same guys in the lineup day after day. Brick has been there for the team, day after day, working hard and playing like a Jet. Kudos to him on the streak.
