New York Jets Week Thirteen: Earning Their Wings

Nov 24, 2013; Baltimore, MD, USA; New York Jets running back Chris Ivory (33) runs with the ball against the Baltimore Ravens in the first half at M

Normally we get to the “wings” on Monday night, but, they are going to be so short, I thought we could just get them out-of-the-way tonight. Believe it or not, I do have a couple of wings to give out, even in that pathetic showing we had this afternoon, so let’s get right to it:

CHRIS IVORY: Don’t get me wrong, his yardage was never at a significant part of the game, and 32 of his 61 yards did come on one play. However, we give out the “wings” based on numbers alone, so 12 carries for 61 yards does amount to over five yards per carry. Good enough to earn him his wings.

DAVID HARRIS: The other set goes to David Harris this week. The defense performed OK, until they got far too tired to stay in it. Jets’ leading tackler David Harris was up to his normal tricks today, with 13 tackles, seven of them solo. Granted, it means a lot of Dolphins’ offensive plays got to the second level, but still….David played well. So there is that.

I have nobody else who deserved wings this week. Hopefully things will improve by next week.
