Chanukah: Eight Crazy Nights of New York Jets: Night One

Happy Chanukah to all of our Jewish fans and readers. May you enjoy the time with your families, and if you get what you want as well, that is never a bad thing.

This being the first night of Chanukah, I thought it was time to start a post series, the “Eight Crazy Nights”. Each night of the holiday, I will post a Jets-related present. But, since obviously the Jets aren’t giving me anything, this will serve as my wish list. What I want from the Jets this Chanukah.

So, come inside the Schechter household as we open up the holiday. We put up the menorah, lighting the first candle. The prayers are said, and now it’s time to open our first present. I head over to the first green present. Open it up and I find……..

A PEACEFUL DIVORCE BETWEEN MARK SANCHEZ AND THE JETS

This has nothing to do with my feelings towards Mark as a player, we have talked about that enough. This week, he talked about how he would like to remain with the team next year. Technically, he is still under contract, so his coming back is not impossible. It may be “virtually impossible”, but not totally impossible.

However, we know the problems if he comes back. The salary, although not as bad as this year, is still high. He also would be, just by default, looking over Geno’s shoulder. He wouldn’t deliberately undermine him, but his BEING THERE would undermine him, or whomever else comes in to play quarterback.

The only way for the Jets to move ahead is to do so without Mark Sanchez. So that is what the Jets have given me on the first night. A clean break from Mark Sanchez.
