As reported by Brian Costello on Twitter this morning, New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes did not participate in today’s position drills. At this point we cannot tell if he is taking a prescribed rest day or if his hamstring was aggravated in some way. If it is a prescribed rest day for Holmes fans don’t have much to worry about as this is likely a step to ensure Holmes is at his most physically capable come game day. If the Hamstring is aggravated we can only hope the one day of rest is enough to help the aggravation go away.
Santonio Holmes proved this past weekend why he is the Jets’ best receiver and how integral of a part he can be to the offense. In a game where the offense did not do much, Holmes was targeted eight times and caught two passes, and although this may look like an ugly stat line we have to remember that Geno was not exactly on point with the throws he made this weekend. The two catches were both big plays for chunk yardage and in those two catches Holmes amassed a beastly 71 yards, good for a 35.5 average. The absence of Holmes will be missed and would likely make our offense look even more inept.
