Defensive End Muhammad Wilkerson and Kicker Nick Folk have been named to Sports Illustrated’s SI.com, Mid Season All Pro team. As we all know, both Muhammad Wilkerson and Nick Folk have been instrumental in our wins this year. Earlier this year on Monday Night Football we heard Jon Gruden gush over Muhammad Wilkerson at the defensive end position placing only JJ Watt above him. Whatever Rex Ryan saw in Wilkerson when he was drafted out of Temple seems to be coming to fruition. Nick Folk was battling for his spot on the roster this training camp and one can’t help but think that the constant pressure of competition catapulted him into easily the best season of his career,
Through nine games this year, Wilkerson has a stat line of 31 combined tackles (20 solo, 11 assist), eight sacks, two forced fumbles, and every lineman’s dream one interception. It is safe to say that Muhammad Wilkerson will have double-digit sacks this year and his stock is only on the rise. The future is very bright for this young man and he has many productive years and Pro Bowls ahead of him. We expect Beast Mo to keep it up throughout the remaining games of the schedule and I speak for every Jet fan when I say that we would be shocked beyond belief if Mo doesn’t make it to the Pro Bowl this year.
Nick Folk has already earned AFC Special Team Player of the Week honors twice this year for his late 4th quarter heroics against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the season opener and his game winning field goal against
the New Orleans Saints last week. He battled for his roster spot this training camp and in my opinion has solidified it after the monster year he is having. On the year, Folk is 23 for 23 on FG’s and 14 for 14 on XP’s. You cannot ask for any more consistency out of your kicker than what you are getting from Folk. He has been a key part of our scoring and we look for him to keep up the good work this year. You can find SI’s Mid Season All Pro Team here.
