News: Mike Goodson Indicted

On March 13, the New York Jets signed running back Mike Goodson, formerly of the Carolina Panthers and Oakland Raiders to a three year deal. On May 17, he was arrested in New Jersey. He has now been indicted on weapon charges. He was indicted on a second degree unlawful possession of a weapon charge and also a fourth degree prohibited weapon and devices charge. The second degree charge is for a loaded Taurus .45-caliber handgun and the fourth degree charge is for hollow point bullets.

Goodson did not play in the first four games after being suspended for violating the substance abuse policy. He returned week five against the Atlanta Falcons. He then suffered a season ending injury week six against the Pittsburgh Steelers when he tore his ACL and MCL. Goodson’s lawyer, Tony Fusco Jr., made this statement:

Nothing surprising. We had been waiting for it, at least now we start the formal procedure to get this guy exonerated.

This season continues to go from bad to worse for Goodson. After his arrest in May, quite a few fans called for his immediate release, and I expect the same here considering he only played in two games this year. Goodson made an impact in the two games, but all eyes will likely be on how this plays out. I’m sure that will play a part in what the Jets do with Goodson.

Like I called for in May, cut ties with this guy! The NFL as usual, gave him a slap on the wrist. Time for the Jet’s organization to stand up and make players accountable for their actions! Whether it was his gun or not, it was the wee hours of the morning, he was drunk, in possession of pot and hollow point bullets were involved! Unacceptable! Cut him!
