New York Jets Week Nine: Earning Their Wings

What a difference a week makes. Big win for our New York Jets yesterday, taking down the New Orleans Saints 26-20. Who earned their wings this week?

CHRIS IVORY: We have to start here with the wing earners for this week. Chris Ivory took control of the game with his legs early, and didn’t relinquish that control. His second run of the day went for 27 yards, and he never looked back, running like he was mad at the turf. For the game, he ran the ball 18 times for 139 yards and one touchdown, averaging over seven yards per carry. Great job out of him.

CALVIN PACE: Got to give one to Calvin, who found a bit of the fountain of youth yesterday. He finished with 4.5 tackles, three solo, one sack and one forced fumble. The Jets defense as a whole was in Drew’s face all afternoon, with Pace putting up the best numbers in that regard. Mo Wilkerson added a sack as well.

NICK FOLK: Call him what you like, Nicky Ice, Nick the automatic, Folk Hero, or whatever other name you can come up with. I just call him a great field goal kicker. With this guy on our side we do not leave the red zone, or most of opponent territory for that matter, empty-handed. Another perfect day for Nick, making all four of his field goal attempts. The Folk Hero is just having a wonderful season so far.

So who were the wing earners for you guys?

  • Luke Diehl

The entire offensive line played cohesively as a unit anytime you basically rush for 200 yards your offensive line is getting it done in the trenches. Defensive front seven played like they were possessed the whole game

    • Alan Schechter

      Very fair Luke.

  • Edwin Cuquito Camacho

Quinton Coples finally showed up this week and got a nice rush @ OLB… its about time he had a coming out party… They didnt translate as sacks but they did work as pressure to Brees…

Pressure is definitely effective even when it doesn’t translate into sacks.
